KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATE TEACHER PRIVATE ELEMENTARY (Afternoon Class)
FOR PRIVATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: AFTERNOONS (11:30 AM – 4:00 PM) Teaching Advanced Kindergarten Program
OPEN TO: STATE CERTIFIED ELEMENTARY TEACHER OR MONTESSORI CERTIFIED TEACHER
BEGINNING: Approximately Mid-August Staff Days
WORK HOURS ON CLASS DAYS: 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, 2017 – 2018, School Year Class Days
WORK HOURS ON STAFF DAYS: 9:00 am – 2:00 ( 4 School Prep Days / 7 Staff Days) Plus 3 Year-End Days 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Washington State Certified Elementary Teacher. Experience teaching kindergarten or lower elementary grades.
AMS or other MACTE approved Montessori Teacher Training Program. College Graduate. Experience teaching in a Montessori classroom minimum of one year
JOIN A UNIQUE EDUCATION PROGRAM:
Our kindergarten school curriculum is a blend of Montessori Curriculum, Traditional Curriculum, With Breadth & Depth, and Globally minded.
Teacher to work collaboratively with other teachers in a combined prek/kindergarten class.
Work collaboratively with lead morning Montessori kindergarten teacher to implement a traditional academic program in the afternoon school hours. Work with an afternoon assistant to instruct kindergarten students.
Share in instructing afternoon circle for prekindergarten & kindergarten students: For example: Lessons in the 7 Habits of Happy Kids, interesting Artists….etc.
Responsibilities also include helping implement teacher plans in language arts & math & social studies & science projects; teaching small groups of students; sharing in creating material; presenting group lessons; preparing and organizing materials; correcting papers; helping maintain appropriate classroom behavior; and supervising students on field trips, (at recess if needed), and other off-site activities.
Helping in evaluating student progress, in evaluating planned work, sharing in preparing and presenting parent conference reports, and communicating with parents. Be skilled in using computer. Help in classroom maintenance. Assume other duties to help the successful functioning of the classroom.
This person needs to have a positive, professional, flexible attitude; work well and cooperatively with others with excellent collaborative skills; and be willing to “go above and beyond.” Strong organizational skills a must. Good classroom management skills necessary along with ability to instill a feeling of calm, order and focus in the classroom. Gracious verbal communication skills for interacting with staff, students, and parents.
The school year begins mid – August and continues to approximately mid-June. There are typically 165 school days, approximately an additional 15 staff work days, approximately a two week Winter Break, a one week Mid-Winter Break, and a one week Spring Break.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 11:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Other optional work hours include working when there are Camps during breaks and during the summer.

Cascadia is a private state approved elementary school for students in prekindergarten through the fourth grade. Founded in 1977, Cascadia is known for its advanced academic program, rounded with the arts. Cascadia is a moderate size school, with generally 70 — 80 students. Cascadia has a strong sense of community among teachers, students, and parents.
