Throughout the year, WFIS presents Learning Summits that focus on a variety of issues that are of particular relevance to private school teachers, administrators and staff. Below is a list of upcoming WFIS Summits.

WFIS Safety Summit: Spokane

Spokane May 4, 2017 – NEW ESD 101 in Spokane

WFIS has put together an affordable and highly informative, all-day forum for school leaders and their staff to advance all aspects of safety planning and emergency preparedness.  Private school educators are committed to fostering the best practices for their school and keeping school communities secure.  Be a part of the training, discussion and school improvement movement by joining fellow private school staff at Seattle Academy on Thursday May 4, 2017 from 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Keynote Presentation: What a safety plan Is and Isn’t

A safety plan in a binder on a shelf is just another earthquake hazard! This session is designed to help you elevate that safety plan into an invaluable guide to prepare for, respond to, and recover from any emergency or disaster.

Learn from keynote JoAnn Jordan:

  • Components of an “excellent” emergency preparedness program for your school.
  • A clear understanding what to include in your plan.
  • The importance of building solid relationships between first response agencies, neighboring schools, and the surrounding community.

Followed by 50-minute presentation sessions on:

Incident Command Planning and Growing A Strong Reunification Process from JoAnn Jordan, retired Public Education Coordinator for the Seattle Office of Emergency Management

Mapping & Communication: Solving the Big Issues for Private Schools from Ryan Ellsworth with Prepared Response

As well as Suicide Prevention, Teaching Personal Preparedness and Establishing Relationships with Law Enforcement, and MORE!

This all day event is orchestrated for school staff members to bring your existing School Safety Plan to get feedback.
