Earlier this week, WFIS convened two important meetings focused on accreditation and legislative engagement.
The Boarding School Accreditation Workgroup continued its effort to align accreditation standards with state boarding school licensing requirements. Members walked through the licensing laws and compared them to NWAIS accreditation standards specific to boarding schools. With a critical eye, the members have several suggestions and additions that will be discussed next week.
The Non-Public Agency (NPA) Schools’ Tuesday morning meeting included a discussion about an upcoming visit by legislators. We discussed how to help a small program be successful and avoid disrupting student learning while having adults walk through classrooms. The NPAs are excited about the legislators’ interest in their work while being protective of the students who attend these special schools.
WFIS will continue working closely with member schools to ensure their voices are heard and practical solutions are advanced.
