This Seattle Children’s Hospital DISH session offered a practical refresher on supporting students diagnosed with diabetes. Presenters reviewed the basics of blood glucose, common symptoms of high and low blood sugar, and when to take action. Guidance included how to recognize and treat hypoglycemia, including the appropriate use of glucagon in emergencies, and key reminders on insulin delivery—types, dosing, and proper injection technique. The session also highlighted how physical activity impacts blood glucose and offered strategies for monitoring and carb intake before and after exercise.
