The December DiSH Washington session featured Isabella Niu, MD, who shared updates on diabetes technology relevant to school health settings. Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) are now as accurate as traditional blood glucometers, though readings may lag due to interstitial fluid measurement and can show false lows from “compression” during sleep. The session reinforced that supporting students with diabetes requires ongoing vigilance as technology, patterns, and needs continue to evolve. She shared practical device comparison charts, pump simulators, and community-recommended resources for school nurses.
