Returning to Work in Washington Independent Schools

Friday June 5, 2020 at 1:00 PM

WFIS is inviting all member and non-member private school administrators to join us in learning from Karen Kalzer of Helsell Fetterman.  Please submit any questions to: nwatson@helsell.com in advance of the presentation.

Karen will be fielding questions about:

  • Employment issues
  • Best practices for bringing your faculty and staff back to school in today’s COVID-19 environment

WFIS Lunch & Learn – November 2019 at Saint George’s

A forum for discussion between private school leaders

WFIS invited school leaders in the Spokane region to discuss issues facing private schools over lunch.

WFIS will brief you on the following:

  • Ideas to sustain philanthropy despite the new federal tax changes and millennial expectations.
  • Changes for private schools in The Washington State Board of Education and Office of the Superintendent.
  • Early learning and public education: Transitional Kindergarten.
  • The NEW Nonprofit Corporation Regulations.
  • Clock hour providers – new regulations.
  • NEW-Student DATA protection expectations.
  • School Choice initiatives and the Education Freedom Scholarships proposal.
 

WFIS Legal Seminar – Moses Lake, WA 2019

Private school leaders and school board members will gain valuable insight on current best practices relating to governance, risk management & liability, HR & personnel, federal/state regulations, school policy/handbook, and school safety / online security.  WFIS is pleased to be bringing this opportunity to strengthen private school communities by partnering with Nat Taylor of Ellis, Li & McKinstryTracy Miller of Karr, Tuttle, Campbell, and Becky Holt at NPIP, the Non Profit Insurance Program.

WFIS Safety Summit – Seattle

The WFIS Safety Summit brings together private school leaders and their team of emergency planning/safety personnel to meet with professionals immersed in proven systems for community and campus safety preparation.  Attendees will gain high-quality training services in a collaborative setting, be introduced to time saving resources, and leave with a clear understanding of best practices for their school community.  Hosted at Seattle Academy on Capital Hill in Seattle.

Private Schools Safety Summit – Spokane, WA

The Private School Safety Summit brings together school leaders and emergency planning/safety personnel to meet with professionals immersed in proven systems for community and campus safety preparation.  WFIS Safety Summit hosted at ESD 101 in Spokane all-day training providing sessions on:

  • What a Safety Plan Is & Isn’t
  • Mapping and Communication: Prepared Response – Solving the BIG Issues
  • Teaching Personal Preparedness to Your School Community
  • Incident Command Planning
  • Growing A Strong Reunification Process

Private Schools Day: October 2017

Join other private school administrators, teachers, technology specialists, and support staff from the preschool and K-12 educational community in hearing informative presentations from educators and entities deeply invested in education, career development and school success.  

Attendees choose two morning break-out sessions before a delicious lunch (included in cost) followed by your choice of two afternoon breakout sessions before the closing with prize drawing at 3pm.  

Private Schools Day provides continuing education Clock Hours and Merit Stars. A vendor showcase will also be on hand for participants to browse services and support opportunities are available to private schools and their staff at special discounts and rates.
