Gov. Jay Inslee has ordered events with more than 250 people — including sporting events, conventions, concerts and more — are prohibited in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties. “This is not a time to be going out into public in close contact,” Inslee said. “It’s just too dangerous.”
As of today, Wednesday March 11, 2020 schools not experiencing any case of Covid-19 are remaining open with request for staff to prepare for possible closure in the coming days. The Governor has conveyed that schools provide essential services such as meals and social/emotional support to students beyond their education, which parents rely upon to be present in their job responsibilities
The Governor explained that community leaders are in agreement that the situation would worsen if health care workers had to leave their positions to be at home with their children. Scientists agree that the risks posed by Covid-19 are minimal to children without compromised immune systems.
WFIS will continue to update schools as this unfolds.
