Private schools in Washington must submit their Intent to Participate in Federal Programs application each year in the Education Data System (EDS) to be eligible.
The application will open in April for the 2025-26 academic year.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for participation, a private school must:
- Be a non-profit elementary or secondary school approved by the Washington State Board of Education (SBE).
- Notify OSPI and the local school district of its intent to participate by submitting the Private Participation in Federal Programs application in EDS by the deadline.
Important Notice
If the application is not submitted by the deadline, students, teachers, and educational personnel will be ineligible for equitable services in the 2025–26 school year.
Even if a private school does not intend to participate, OSPI requests that the application be submitted to indicate non-participation.
For details on available federal programs, visit the OSPI private school webpage and explore the “Program Basics” section. Additional resources and guidance are also available there.
