Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or Special Education required. Masters degree or equivalent training and experience in learning disabilities, educational therapy, special education, or related field preferred.
Extensive knowledge of learning differences and strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and faculty/staff.
Professional training as an educational psychologist (preferred).
Ability and qualification to administer educational testing (preferred).
Training in and demonstrated knowledge of learning assistance programs, learning theory, educational psychology, and successful interventions.
Experience and willingness to work with a diverse student population in developing helpful learning strategies and increasing motivation for learning.
Ability to generate and implement a vision and program for a comprehensive and integrated learning support program for a college prep high school.
Knowledge of legal standards and limits of the Section 504 law as it applies to private schools.

Position Overview:

The High School Learning Resource Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the diverse learning needs of our students, ensuring that every individual receives the necessary resources and assistance to excel academically. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities focused on facilitating student learning, collaborating with teachers, and fostering a culture of inclusivity within our school community.

Responsibilities:

Interpret educational evaluations and facilitate the academic accommodation process for students with documented learning disabilities, in accordance with the school’s learning plan guidelines.
Develop student-learning plans for all students with documented learning disabilities, as requested by the parent or guardian or through counselor referral.
Collaborate with teachers to assess and implement student accommodations and support needs.
Facilitates the distribution of information about students with all members of a student’s learning team (student, parent, counselor, teachers, outside professionals, etc.) as necessary to ensure learning team cohesion and support each student’s progress.
Communicate regularly with parents about their student’s progress and invite their participation and questions.
Attend student-parent-teacher/counselor conferences and team meetings as needed.
Provide support for students with diagnosed learning disabilities in their application for SAT/ACT standardized test accommodations and organize the administration of on-site testing.
Serve as a liaison with parents, guardians, faculty, and administrators regarding student learning and academic support.
Provide referrals for professional testing and tutoring when appropriate.
Offer education on relevant learning resource topics and strategies for faculty, parents, and students.
Support faculty in the design and implementation of a centralized extended testing program.
Collaborate with faculty, counselors, and administrators to envision and design a comprehensive and integrated menu of support structures for students with learning disabilities.
Participate in Student Support Team Meetings and other related meetings to identify students in need of support.
Serve on the Admissions committee.
Assist with course selection for incoming 9th-grade students.
Teach 0.2 FTE of academic support as needed.
Compensation and Summary of Benefits:

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Current Salary Range: $72,515 – $141,752
Position date range: Teacher date range plus 10 days, 5 days before and 5 days after the academic school year
