Embrace Learning Institute, a private specialty school and learning center is currently hiring for a Special Education Lead Teacher for students grade 6-12. SPED cert or enrolled in a verified program completing SPED cert REQUIRED. Excellent knowledge of working with students who are neurodivergent and whose disabilities can manifest in behaviors that can be offensive, dangerous and violent, is mandatory. Experience and enjoyment working with children who are neurodivergent including but not limited to: ADHD, Autism, ODD, mental health and signigicant behaviors impacting their learning.

You will join our friendly and enthusiastic team of professionals who help make a positive impact on the lives of both our students and families. Small group instruction- 5-9 kids in a classroom and 1:1 or 2:1 opportunities. Supportive team, family/work balance, year-round calendar and paid 5 weeks of PTO.

The right candidate will have experience working with youth and dealing with all of the challenges they can face in the world, oftentimes gifted children, be a strong communicator, and possess the flexibility required to deal with complicated situations. Our students frequently have autism, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, PDA and in some cases are profoundly gifted. As students they struggle with emotional regulation when some of these struggles collide. We are finding ways to work with them!

To be successful in this role you must have experience writing IEPs, BIPs, ERPs, and keeping data and documentation for special education students. You must be strong in curriculum creation and implementation, and have a desire and excitement for creating each program individually for the success of each child and also putting individual programs in place in a small group classroom environment where each child’s program is different. Ability to lead and work independently, self starter, and ability to rally, keep energy positive and enjoy daily challenges is a must!

Full time position

Salary : $90k – $100k per year

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Develop a comprehensive treatment & educational plan for each student.
Use a range of sensory and behavioral strategies to engage the client and address their persistence, anxiety, self-harm, and aggression. May use ABA or NON ABA depending on the needs of the student
Administer medication as appropriate.
Help create & modify an individualized behavior & educational plan to address any behavioral issues the client experiences.
Interest and enthusiastic knowledge and/or willingness to learn about Pathological Demand Avoidance
Interest and flexibility to learn other ways to work with autism with and without using ABA therapies
Ability to have multiple lesson plans ready for any given day that are student led interests in order to be flexible and follow the student’s lead
Belief in the ability of a child to lead their the teacher in their interests and use a teacher as a vehicle in order to access learning, not direct the child to what the teacher wants the student to learn
Record data, write IEPs, BIPs, ERPs, collaborate with student teams regularly and share documentation.
Take responsibility for programming and implementation of programs
Supervise BESS staff (Behavior & Emotional Support Staff), autism specialists and other student specialists as they implement and deliver instruction and services related to
Coordinate related services
Responsible for daily schedule
Take attendance and report daily
Report on student progress to all interested stakeholders
