Olympia Waldorf School is seeking a well-rounded teacher who is joyful, warm, and nurturing with strong interpersonal and communication skills, effective classroom management, and enthusiasm for developing a vibrant play-based Waldorf kindergarten program (mixed-age). It is our desire to hire a qualified individual committed to co-leading, energizing, and inspiring our early childhood program. Waldorf teacher training is required.

About the School: Olympia Waldorf School serves approximately 120 students from preschool through eighth grade. Our faculty is comprised of three early childhood teachers, eight grades teachers, and four specialty teachers. Specialty subjects currently include Spanish, Gardening, Games, Handwork, Woodwork, and Orchestra. We have graduated fifteen classes from Grade 8. A full administrative staff manages the daily activities of the organization. Olympia Waldorf School is fully accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Assoc. of North America (WECAN). Our early childhood program is also licensed by the WA Dept of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).

Campus and Community: Olympia Waldorf School is situated on four acres of field, garden, and woodland in semi-rural East Olympia. Our campus includes Prairie Hall, a historic school building built in 1916, a modern Middle School building, and a charming Kinderhaus. Our community is warm, welcoming, and fully participates in the life of the school.

COVID-19 Impact: Early childhood has been fully outdoors for the 2020-21 school year (except for extended care nap time). Our forested Kinderwoods and new covered areas make a great landscape for our teachers and children.

Compensation: Faculty compensation includes increments for teaching and educational experience, as well as tuition remission, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and professional development opportunities as needed. Salary range: $33,330 to $55,328.

Our Capitol City: Olympia is nestled at the southern tip of Puget Sound and boasts access to a large network of saltwater bays, channels, inlet and coves, as well as the rain forests, mountains, coastal beaches, and parks of the nearby Olympia Peninsula. The Cascade Mountains, including beautiful Mt. Rainier, are just an hour or two away. If you are interested in climbing, skiing, hiking, kayaking, sailing, fishing, boating, or any outdoor pursuits, there is much to offer here. Washingtonians enjoy four distinct seasons and are appreciative of the natural world and all that it has to offer.
