Pacific Christian Academy is looking for a new member of the administrative support team who will work in unity with committed and passionate staff to accomplish the school mission.
Pacific Christian Academy has a rich history of providing Christian education in the Puget Sound region. Our Early Education through 12th grade program educates over 300 students in an in-person, classroom setting. Once a church-sponsored school, Pacific Christian Academy is now a separate non-profit, leasing space from the original “parent” church. We still enjoy a strong relationship with the church.
The mission of Pacific Christian Academy is to “offer families a superior bible-based education that equips students to be socially relevant leaders who are fully prepared for higher achievement.” Staff members promote the mission by accomplishing the attached job description, which allows the school to operate with excellence as a ministry and business.

Overall Job Description:
The Receptionist is the first “face” of the school to the school community. She/He will greet parents and students as the day begins, and serve them throughout the day as lunches arrive to be delivered, volunteers check in and out, skinned knees are cared for, and students come by for a “high-five.” The receptionist will track attendance, serve as a hub for communication, and oversee health and safety.

Required Professional Qualities/Functions
It is expected that the PCA staff member will …
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Hold current First Aid, CPR and concussion certification.
- Be effective in oral and written communication skills.
- Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the Head of School.
- Seek and accept constructive evaluation of her or his own job performance.
- Attend PCA professional development, workshops, and meetings as recommended.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide warm, helpful service to the PCA family and students.
- Answer phones and direct calls to the proper employee.
- Assist in providing school tours as needed.
- Serve as a member of the Health Services Team; provide health screening; coordinate parent pick-up of ill students; keep required school records of illnesses and injuries.
- Track student attendance.
- Coordinate benevolence for the school family.
- Provide oversight for part-time students and students staying after school.
- Receipt payments from families.
- Oversee Lost and Found.
- Serve as PCA liaison to church staff for maintenance/emergency custodial/security.
- Coordinate volunteers.
- Process incoming mail.
- Laminate items for employees.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to listen carefully and respond with grace and understanding to all members of the school community.
- Must be able to manage time and prioritize daily and weekly tasks.
- Able to manage the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of the job.
- Able to walk forward and backwards.
- Able to project voice so that up to 50 students can hear.
- Able to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a maximum of 35 pounds.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
- Able to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
- Able to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
Work Hours and Compensation
The receptionist is a full time, year round responsibility. The hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Salary range, $16.66 – $21.00 per hour, is based on qualifications and work experience. Full-time benefits include a 50% PCA full-time student tuition discount for eligible EE- Grade 12 dependents, which increases by 10% each returning year up to 100%, base life insurance 100%, and 75% of medical and dental insurance premiums (see Employee Handbook for details).
Hourly employees do not normally work over Christmas, Easter, and 4 day weekend vacations, and therefore must plan ahead for days they receive no wages.
