Position: SUPERINTENDENT
Riverside Christian School, Yakima, WA

Riverside Christian School is seeking an inspiring, enthusiastic, and Spirit-filled Superintendent to lead our PK-12th grade school located in beautiful Yakima, Washington, in accordance with the Mission Statement, Core Values, Statement of Faith, and Bylaws of the school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The superintendent will:

BOARD
Assist the Board with its strategic and long-range planning.
Provide leadership in the development of the school campus.
Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance for development programs in community relations, fundraising, student recruitment and retention, publications, and other projects as may be necessary.
Attend all meetings of the Board.
Report on the progress and status of the school at monthly board meetings as well as the Annual Business Meeting.
Participate as an ex-officio member of each standing committee of the Board, although not serving as chair for any committee.
Recommend policies for the further development of the school.
Present a projected calendar to the Board for the following academic year.
Implement or cause to implement all board policies, budget, and directives to meet the spirit and the intent of the Board.
Prepare an annual budget for the operation of the school.
Receive curriculum recommendations from principals and the Education Committee and then submit recommendations to the Board as needed.
Serve as the educational consultant to the Board by providing information and counsel on the school’s educational mission.
Inform the Board of essential school matters and communicate to the faculty and staff about the Board’s activities and decisions.

FACULTY
Assist the principals in performing their duties.
Provide leadership to develop a Christ-centered school.
Provide oversight to principals regarding discipline.
Maintain an understanding of current trends in education.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Maintain a physically and emotionally positive work/learning environment. Administer rules and procedures promptly, fairly, and consistently.  Promote good relationships among the administration, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
Oversee the public relations of the school.
Oversee fundraising activities.
Maintain good relationships with the appropriate state, local, or federal government agencies.
Assist the Property & Maintenance Committee with the operation and maintenance of all school facilities and vehicles.
Oversee monthly emergency drills and building safety inspections.
Develop a budget with the assistance of school staff and the Board Finance Committee.
Work with business office staff to maintain the efficient financial operation of the school.
Oversee reporting to ACSI, OSPI.
Oversee all school communication regarding inclement weather protocols, school safety, workplace injuries, etc.
Provide supervision and evaluation to direct reports.

PROFESSIONAL
Provide insight in setting clear organizational goals for the school.
Give strategic leadership to brand recognition of Riverside in the local community.
Provide leadership and balance for the school’s various activities (Academic, Spiritual, Athletic, Artistic) to fulfill Riverside’s mission.
Work to keep the school consistent with and in support of Riverside’s Statement of Faith.
Provide guidance in the design, implementation, and administration of curricula, student programs, and services appropriate to the school’s mission and needs of the students.
·       Set standards of excellence and achievement in the areas of academics, extra-curricular activities, and character development.  Ensure the school’s programs prepare students for higher education and the workplace in the 21st century.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct leadership and mentorship to the following:

Administration Team
Athletic Director
Business/Finance Director
Marketing & Admissions Coordinator
IT Coordinator
Transportation Coordinator

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Inspire others with Christ-like character and have an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Use spiritual disciplines such as active involvement in a local church, prayer, Bible study, and worship to encourage students, staff, and faculty to live a life surrendered to Christ.
Have a strong understanding/knowledge of scripture.
Develop personal relationships within the school to promote genuine community at Riverside Christian School.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
Master’s degree in education or related field. May substitute relevant work experience for education, but will be expected to gain administrative credentialing.

EXPERIENCE
As a minimum, three years of administrative leadership in a school system and prior experience as a teacher preferred.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
State of Washington Administrator Certificate, ACSI Administrative Certificate, or the equivalent.

SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and telecommunication devices.

ANTICIPATED SEARCH CALENDAR
It is anticipated that the Interviewing Committee will interview the top four candidates in March 2021 and the finalist hired by May 1, 2021. The anticipated start date is June 15, 2021.
