The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that houses of worship are now eligible for disaster assistance. Included is a link to the new policy guide.
In the forward to the new policy guide, FEMA cites Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia v. Comer as its reason for changing the guidance “so as not to exclude houses of worship from eligibility for FEMA aid on the basis of the religious character or primarily religious use of the facility.”
