WFIS has been a long-standing member of the School Safety & Student Well-being Advisory Committee (SS-SWAC), which the legislature enacted in 2019 to support “non-firearm measures to increase school safety and student well-being.”
The quarterly meetings aim to advise the Superintendent, the OSPI state School Safety Center, the Regional Safety Centers, school districts, and public and private schools on all matters related to comprehensive school safety and student well-being.
We thank Mike Patello at Christ the King School in Yakima for acting as the private school representative on this committee. The next SS-SWAC meeting will be on December 17, 2024.
