Research has shown that students’ belief in their ability to learn and succeed in mathematics—their math identity—directly influences their engagement and achievement in math class. In this Speaker Series event, Dr. Emily Starrett will explore adults’ roles in impacting students’ math identity and discuss resources and strategies to support all learners. Diving into elements of math identity, this webinar will cover topics including productive struggle, collaborative discourse, and navigating uncertainty to creatively problem-solve and strengthen resiliency.

Stories of Rescue and Resistance
Featuring the Documentary Film Carla the Rescuer
Saturday, February 8, from 11 am-1:30 pm at Gonzaga University, John J. Hemmingson Center Auditorium (Lower Level) 702 E. Desmet Ave, Spokane, WA 99202.
Eastern Washington educators are invited to join the Holocaust Center for Humanity for a viewing of the soon-to-be-released documentary Carla the Rescuer, which details the story of Holocaust survivor and Spokane resident Carla Peperzak’s work in the resistance movement during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Followed by a Q&A with Carla Peperzak, teachers will be introduced to classroom-ready resources related to the film. Register HERE.
