This year’s first School Nurse Connects session features Will Hitchcock, DOH health Services consultant for Injury and Violence Prevention, presenting a review of the head injury data reported by schools in the 2023-2024 year. The group will explore the issues schools face in providing care to students with head injuries and barriers to reporting*.

Developing Students’ Media Literacy Skills by Analyzing Nazi Propaganda

Presented by the Holocaust Center for Humanity on October 10 from 4 -5 pm (PT) Online

This webinar will introduce educators to instructional strategies for helping students increase their media literacy skills and become critical media consumers in all formats. Using Nazi-era propaganda as a scaffold, it will explore the methods used in visual media to shape people’s opinions and actions. Attendees will be introduced to lesson plans to help promote media literacy skills relative to visual and print media.

WA educators can earn one CCDEI clock hour. Requires registering on PDEnroller.

Diabetes in School Health (DiSH) sessions 2024-25 schedule

Diabetes in School Health is a monthly diabetes health Project ECHO teleconferencing program. The intended audience is school nurses and personnel caring for students with diabetes. The presentation format is approximately 15-20 minutes of instruction by a diabetes expert, followed by 40-45 minutes of discussion between the presenter and participants. Participants gain knowledge that will enable them to support students with diabetes. Dates for the 2024-2025 school year are below. (Time will be 3-4 pm for all).

Register at DiSH pdenroller.org to be eligible for 1 STEM clock hour per session. A Smartsheet link will be posted during every session to receive the clock hour. You must fill out the link form, or YOU WILL NOT GET THAT SESSION CLOCK HOUR.
