The annual State Board of Education Private School Approval online application portal for the 2023-2024 school year opens on this Wednesday, March 1.  Log-in requires the Head of School email address as username, regardless of who completes the application.

Nicole Mulhausen, Private Schools Manager at the Washington State Board of Education, will provide Wednesday Office Hours, March 1 – April 19, from 11:30–12:30 for application support in a Q&A session.

A private school is a nonpublic school that conducts a program of kindergarten and at least one grade, or a program of any or all grades one through twelve. Private schools must be approved by the State Board of Education, maintain a program that ensures a sufficient basic education for students to meet usual state graduation requirements, and meet reasonable standards for the health and safety of private school students.

The State Board of Education reviews approval applications every spring, and applications for the 2023 – 2024 school year will be accepted: Wednesday, March 1, 2023 – Friday, April 28, 2023.
