Much discussion is occurring at the state agency level and among schools as the teacher shortage continues. The private school approval will require each school to list their certificated teachers and any uncertificated teachers in the application. Please review the WAC on minimum standards and certificate forms relating to private schools.
WA State has invested in a robust teacher certification system. Still, the rules prohibit educators with certification from other states, foreign countries, Montessori, Seventh-day Adventist, ACSI, and other religious teaching degree programs from being considered “certificated.” It would be helpful for the State to initiate a parity review to welcome more qualified teachers.
