Congratulations to Montessori Academy at Spring Valley, one of the schools chosen by the Department of Ecology as a Waste Not WA School Award winner for their program tackling food waste through a pumpkin patch in the 2024-25 school year!
The Department of Ecology is seeking school staff to join a workgroup to help inform changes to this program for the next funding cycle (2025-2026). The maximum amount per award will increase from $5,000 to $10,000. The goal is to ensure the program effectively reduces school waste, offers a straightforward application and scoring process, and provides more resources for Washington schools.
