WFIS leaders met in groups with WA State Senators and Representatives on January 31 in Olympia. They engaged legislators on the need to expand free college course credit access to private high school students (HB 1618), establish reasonable timelines for meeting energy efficiency standards (SSB 5190), and improve regulations around emergency anaphylaxis medication in schools (SB 5240). They also emphasized the impact of the overtime exemptions (HB 1184) and supported adjustments to childcare provider qualification timelines (HB 1648) to ensure sustainable staffing.

At the same time, they pushed against measures that could undermine the independence of private education, such as SB 5062/HB 1128, which would impose union membership requirements on early learning teachers in private schools and add another layer of bureaucracy.
