Six private school leaders joined Head of School Stacy Turner and WFIS’ Suzie Hanson to tour Hamlin Robinson, a school for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences.

Leadership from NPAs, including Eastside Academies School, Dartmoor, Academy Schools, Morningside Academy, and Academy for Precision Learning, enjoyed getting to know HRS better, sharing best practices, and building community.

This alliance was strengthened over the past year following misplaced scrutiny of private schools working with students with special learning needs due to The Seattle Times Propublica reporting on Northwest School of Innovative Learning.

Early articles ran headlines accusing the “private school” of isolation and restraint practices when, in reality, the hospital program was overseen by the State for many years and was not an approved private school.
