In late September, WFIS headed north to visit schools, stopping to see Natelle Austin and Tim Pearce at Grace Academy in Marysville as well as Aubrey Fautheree at Skagit Adventist (first photo). Seeing these school leaders in their element after so many years of online-only connection was wonderful!
The WFIS Board of Directors met in Lynden for a tour of Lynden Christian School. They were joined by Mayor Scott Korthuis, Representatives Sharon Shewmake and Alicia Rule, and Senator Simon Sefzik as a thank you for all of their work these past years. School leaders from the surrounding schools joined WFIS for lunch and lively conversations. Lynden Christian’s Paul Bootsma and Carla Harkness were gracious hosts for an uplifting day. Of course, serious business was also on the agenda. The Board of Directors discussed School Choice in Washington, a Strategic Financial Plan, and they received updates from private school representatives Mike DeJonge on the WIAA Board and Mike Patello on OSPI’s School Safety Committee.
