In recent months, SEIU 925 has intensified its organizing efforts by filing public records requests with DCYF to obtain teacher contact information and, in some cases, knocking on teachers’ doors—an approach that has raised concerns among educators and school leaders alike.

WFIS is actively engaged in efforts to block any legislation that would mandate schools to share personal staff information or require teachers to attend union meetings. These developments highlight the importance of being prepared for potential union activity on your campus.

To support school leaders in navigating this complex landscape, WFIS will host a special PreK–12 Zoom session for member schools on October 21, featuring a legal strategist specializing in labor and employment law. This session will provide practical guidance on how schools can proactively prepare for and appropriately respond to union-related efforts.

Please mark your calendars—more details to come soon.
