On Thursday, the Education Lab: Seattle Times hosted a webinar called “The future of childcare in Washington and what’s at stake.”
The panel included Jasmine Donovan from Dick’s Drive-In Restaurants, Representative Josh Penner from the 31st District, Rekah Strong from the Educational Opportunities for Children & Families, and Senator Claire Wilson from the 30th District.
They spoke a lot about the importance of a healthy early learning infrastructure for working parents. There was recognition of the problems, and Dick’s Drive-In provided excellent solutions for their medium size business. Dick’s provides funding for employee children to attend early learning programs.
This is the first of several conversations ED Lab plans to host about early education. WFIS encourages early education directors to attend and add questions in the Q&A that shape the discussion toward more answers and fewer platitudes.
