The program provides free test kits for homes and buildings, and is available to public and private schools. The program can provide 30–50 free kits per month, depending on availability. (Test kits may also be purchased and shipped to the lab for about $20.) The free radon test kit will take 6 to 8 weeks to arrive.

Radon test requirements:
Multiple tests will be needed to test:
- Regularly occupied rooms on or below ground level
- At least one room per floor above ground level
- Every 2000 square feet for large open spaces like gyms
- Portables
Test every 5 years, after radon mitigation, and after significant building changes.
