WA DOH has requested that each of the 9 ESDs continue to employ, though on a part-time basis, the COVID-Coordinators. The COVID-Coordinators supported public and private schools with testing access and information during the pandemic and will continue through the coming academic year. This decision was made partly to advance the DOH’s goal to expand connections with school personnel on a broader range of topics beyond COVID-19, such as air quality, mental health access, immunizations, etc.
As each ESD has supported the private schools in their jurisdiction in unique ways, WFIS encourages private schools to have someone on each school’s health team attend the meetings. Also, the school admin can share ESD- sponsored opportunities with school staff.
