Private schools that have indicated interest in participating in Title I, Part A equitable services should expect their district to engage in timely, meaningful, and ongoing consultation throughout the year. Services must be designed to support student, parent, and family needs. Districts are responsible for providing services and may, if necessary, enter into interlocal agreements for out-of-district private schools.
Title I, Part A requires that districts serve their eligible students who attend private schools even if they are located outside the district boundaries. The crucial factor is that the students reside within the public district’s boundaries, not the private school’s location.
